Lumber Cart
June 2018
One of the first projects for Lazy iBuilds was this lumber cart. This is from many awesome You Tube videos including Steve Ramsey at Woodworking for Mere Mortals, Tamar at 3x3Custom and many others. My addition to the plan is a beveled edge on the ends of the sheet goods section to protect the cart and plywood scraps.
Hat Rack
June 2018
My bud Pete stopped by the Lazy iBuilds Shop to try out my new Jointer & planer. Mrs Lazy iBeauty purchased both at garage sales within the last two weeks. She found a Dewalt DW 735 Thickness Planer for only $125 and a Porter Cable Jointer for $200. The DW 735 needed about $100 in blades and a few minor things. The Jointer was new!
Lazy iBuilds Tip: Lesson learned from the Mrs Lazy iBeauty that you can find almost anything at a fair or low price if you are patient.
Back to the project. After Jointing and Planing a large redwood 4" thick slab for the base, Pete sanded and installed into a hole he routed with a 1/2" router and put a cork-board on the bottom of the base and that was it. Done! It was the first time either of us had used a Jointer or Planer since junior high school.
See below for the finished Hat Rack project.
Cutting Board
July 7, 2018
He's at it again! Check out Pete's cheese board. He is making awesome, creative projects in the Lazy iBuilds shop. See below for a photo.
LED Lamp
July 8, 2018
Inspired (stolen) from Adam Savage's "tested" YouTube Channel, this is the start of a custom variable brightness & color temp lamp for close-up detailed work. See finished project below in a short video demo. My video is below and here is a link to Adam's original video to help you build one.
RV Travel Clothes Hanger (W/Darla Jean & Dwayne)
December 2018
The Gum's AKA Dwayne had an idea for an outdoor clothes hanging rack that won't blow away. It is designed to attach interlocked to an RV ladder. No tools or brackets needed to use! D stained the piece and added the dowels on the fly and the Lazy i simply cut & "routed" some wood. Good collaboration. See photos below. Darla Jean can rest assured her unmentionables will stay unmentionable & out of the sand!
Miter Saw Station Storage (from Bob at "I Like to Make Stuff" on YouTube)
December 2018
Another more talented Bob at the popular YouTube Channel, I Like to Make Stuff, published a video of this miter station and storage. Thanks for the plans "Other Bob!"
NOVEMBER 2021 UPDATE ON PROJECTS
The Li-shop was busy during the last two years, with delays caused by the day job. In no particular order, here are a few accomplishments:
Table Saw Sled- Form plans purchased from Kings Fine Woodworking, the Li built this heavy duty sled, with removable & replaceable inserts for dado use. not bad for my first attempt, but next time, I may alter the design the li-Way. (That usually means less square and plumb then the plans!)
Sand Paper Supplies Storage
This small cabinet with sliding shelves and a storage drawer is fairly simple. This was a good learning experience using the 1/4, 1/4, 1/4 joinery technique. For me tough to dial in, but after that, worked like a charm. Do I see a second table saw set up with this set-up full-time?
Shop Cabinet with Drawers
This was a fun project to learn about drawer slides. I also installed the door fronts with continuous grain like the big-boy and girls, You-Tube channels.

BIG PROJECT NEWS!
Kitchen Pantry Project Almost Completed!
Remember the pandemic? Yes, the 2020 version, not the 1918 old school, everyone follow the rules, and not make political hay from death pandemic...Oops, no more politics on the Li! Well, during the most recent pandemic, the Li started what would take about three years, building 16 cabinets in the home kitchen pantry. A former pantry with store-bought wire shelves, replaced with lower cabinets, upper cabinets with a custom wood counter and fridge surround with slat storage overhead.
Although this project lasted over 3 years, working during open time from the day-job, the Li did one thing smart. Bought the Baltic birch plywood for the carcasses before the supply chain inflation hit. In early 2024, BB is about $150 per 4x8 sheet at the hardwood dealer. The Li paid half that in 2021.
The cabinet carcasses are 3/4" plywood with no face frames other than a maple 3/8" edge band milled in the Li Shop.
The Li Cuz, Lura donated a 1.5" butcher block piece she no longer needed and that is the focal point of the pantry under the single window. The Li replicated something close for the two counters along the walls out of BB plywood and maple banding.
See below for before and after photos of the project.
The pantry was part of the home addition back in 2016. It was left bare initially, so that the Li could relish the opportunity to build over a dozen cabinets from scratch with adjustable shelving, drawers and many other things the Li had little skill at doing.
Due to the hard work of Darla Jean and her hubby, the pantry as it has existed since 2016 was emptied by these two saints in about half a day. Without their help, who knows where we would be now on the project. Here is the room prior to the installation.
